Review: GlamGlow Gravity Mud
We are now more aware than ever of how we treat our skin. The sheer magnitude of skincare products proves that.
It’s great having so many products available that serve different purposes and treat different skin types, but such a huge selection can be a little overwhelming.
There are a lot of great products out there, but there are also lots of duds.
Skincare products can be expensive, so you want to make sure that your money is well-spent on quality products.
One of the many categories of skincare products is face masks. Who doesn’t love a good face mask? They’re soothing and leave your skin feeling clean and refreshed.
There are many different kinds of face masks available in every brand, from peel-offs to mud masks to scrubs. They utilize a variety of different plants and essences, too, some popular ingredients including cucumber, aloe, watermelon, and apricot.
There are plenty of different brands and qualities of face mask available, of all different prices. Some face masks can range upwards of $100 dollars for just a few ounces, while at your local Target you can pick up a series of one-use masks for a dollar each. While these dollar masks are fun, you have to question their effectiveness.
On the other hand, you don’t want to go spending lots of money on products that also might work and are likely overpriced.
Below, we will be reviewing one of the pricier skin treatment masks available on the market: GlamGlow Gravity Mud.
This mask is generally worth $50 for just 1.7 oz, so you need to know before making a purchase if this product is really worth it.
That’s why we’re here: to provide an informative and unbiased review so you have everything you need to know before committing to a purchase.

GlamGlow GravityMud is a liquid, mud-like face mask. It is specifically marketed as a firming treatment, leaving skin feeling smooth and uplifted immediately after use.
Unlike many mud-based masks, this is a peel off mask rather than one that needs to be awkwardly wiped away.
The goal of this mask is to firm up and lift skin, naturally highlighting contours for a more defined look.
GlamGlow GravityMud Specifications
Key Features
The GlamGlow GravityMud package comes with a smooth applicator brush, so you don’t need to worry about wasting the mixture on your hands and can apply it nice and smoothly.
When applying the mask with the brush, be sure to form an even coating across your skin, avoiding the eyes and mouth.
Once applied, mixture starts out a bright white, gradually changing to “Brilliant Chrome” after application. The brightening of color is meant to naturally bring out contours in the face for more definition.
Ingredients
The GravityMud mixture is made with their trademarked TEAOXI, in the form of marshmallow and licorice leaf.
Aside from these highlighted ingredients, the mask contains a whole host of extracts and ingredients that can be found on the GlamGlow website. They do note, though, that from time to time, ingredient lists will change so the only way to exactly know what ingredients is in your specific mixture is to look at the label of the product you receive.
The top two ingredients in the GravityMud mask are water and fatty alcohols. While the presence of alcohol may seem to be a deterrent, fatty alcohols are different from hard alcohols in that they work softer and can actually moisturize dry skin.
Product Use
The GlamGlow website recommends that you apply this product with the brush in even, upward brush strokes. Avoid the eyes and mouth, and also keep the product away from your eyebrows and hairline.
Once applied, the mask will begin to dry and undergo that color changing process mentioned above. You should leave the mask on until it is completely dry, generally 20-30 minutes.
After application, be sure to clean the applicator brush with soap and water and leave it to air dry.
When it’s time for removal, they suggest you start peeling the mask off from the outer edges and gently continue up, rolling off any fragments left behind.
They recommend avoiding water anytime during the mask process or directly after.
That way, the ingredients in the mixture can work their way into their skin and do their job before being fully stripped away. GlamGlow recommends using this product twice a week.
GlamGlow GravityMud Variations
There are several variations of the GravityMud products available. The product in its standard form comes in a small, purple cylindrical container and contains 1.7 oz of product. Different sizes and options can also be found, however, on both the GlamGlow website and on Amazon.
For instance, there is a smaller cannister available, containing only 1 oz of product. The GravityMud mask can also be found in a small, travel-friendly tube and in a set of two, one-time use masks.
Now, for the more fun variations.
There is an entire line of GravityMud masks based on My Little Pony. These masks are available in pink, purple, and black, and they are infused with glitter.
So, when you apply one of these face masks, you can expect to see a glittery purple face looking back at you, filled with all the magic of friendship, to put it in My Little Pony terms. In stores such as Sephora, you can even find My Little Pony-themed GravityMud product packs.
A little ridiculous?
Maybe.
But the mask has all the same ingredients as in its standard form and does the same job.
So, you may as well have a little fun with it.
The other line of theme of GravityMud masks available is even weirder: Power Rangers. Based off the two villains from the most recent Power Rangers movie, Goldar and Rita Repulsa, the two colors of this product line are Goldar Gold and Rita Repulsa Green.
Admittedly, the gold mask does have a certain appeal with its shimmering surface, but the green is just, well – green. GlamGlow markets these masks as providing “contours so sexy, they’re ready for galactic domination.”
The target audience of this product is definitely very specific, and probably not as wide as the audience they’re catching with the My Little Pony line. It’s creative and unique, though, so points for that.
Also, while the My Little Pony items are available in the standard, pricier cannisters of the original masks, the Power Rangers products can only be found in the less-expensive tubes.
What Users Think
Buyers of the GlamGlow GravityMud mask all in all are very pleased. They love not only how the mask looks and smells, but how it leaves their skin looking and feeling afterward. There have been some complaints of the mask causing irritation, so try testing it on a small patch of skin first if you have sensitive skin.
This is an Amazon’s Choice product—you should, however, carefully consider were you purchase this product.
There are several users who claim the product found on Amazon is a fake, and that this is the reason for the burning sensation that some users feel. They instead recommend purchasing from Sephora to ensure you get the real deal.
Pricing
The standard 1.7 oz jars of GlamGlow GravityMud typically cost $59 on both the GlamGlow website and at Sephora. This same jar is available at the reduced price of $52 on Amazon, but as mentioned above, you might want to be wary when selecting this product. The smaller travel tubes are typically available for $21.

Just like the GlamGlow GravityMud mask, this Enlite mask is made to firm up skin, reduce signs of aging, and increase overall skin luminosity.
The Enlite product is a much cheaper alternative to the GravityMud mask. It provides double the ounces for less than a quarter of the price. This makes the Enlite mask a very appealing alternative that your wallet will thank you for.
The Enlite mask is made with antioxidants to refresh skin and protect against environmental aggressors. Users of the mask enjoy its shiny appearance, however, there have been complaints of the mask being difficult to remove.
Users also say that the mask does a better job at brightening than it does tightening.
So if you’re looking for a mask for the purpose of firming up your skin, then the GravityMud mask may still offer the better alternative despite the hefty price.

The Kiehl’s Ginger Lean & Hibiscus Firming Mask is another mask that firms and smoothens skin. As the title suggests, it infuses ginger leaf and hibiscus into its formula, two plants with flowers that are known to close overnight, preserving their nectar.
In this way, the mask is meant to mimic the flower: you apply the mask overnight and let the nourishing ingredients seep in and do their work.
Users for the most part really like this product, though there are some that complain of it drying out their skin when it is meant to do the opposite.
In terms of value, this Kiehl’s mask is a few dollars cheaper than GlamGlow GravityMud and provides double the ounces.
On the surface, it appears the Kiehl’s mask is a greater value. However, the Kiehl’s recommends that you apply the mask five times a week, while GlamGlow suggests only twice a week.
Using the Kiehl’s mask at a rate more than double the GlamGlow mask will cause it to run out much quicker, necessitating more frequent purchases to achieve the same results.
So, if you use the products with their intended amounts, then the costs pretty much even out.
It should also be noted that to use the Kiehl’s mask as it’s intended requires a lot more work. Not only should you use it five times a week, but it’s also a mask that you’re recommended to sleep in.
So, the GravityMud mask might be the better alternative if you want something that you only have to spend a half hour on twice a week, saving on time.
Pros and Cons

Conclusions About GlamGlow GravityMud
All in all, GlamGlow GravityMud is a great face mask that does everything it says it should.
It’s easy to use, and customers enjoy its scent and colors.
Its only con is really the high price tag, so it may be worth it to try out a cheaper product and see if it works for skin in much the same way.
