Review: Philosophy Eye Cream

Do you suffer from puffy bags under your eyes on a daily basis like millions of others?

“But I’m not even tired!” you might exclaim in frustration, as you poke and prod at your eye area in the mirror.

Puffy and tired looking under-eye areas are a result of both genetics and environment, and they can be hard to escape and even harder to forget about.

Let’s be honest: puffy and tired-looking eyes are not the most attractive thing in the world, and if you’re losing sleep worrying about it then that’s only contributing to the problem.

Wrinkles around the eyes are also a common problem, no matter how old you are.

Wrinkles plus puffy eyes?

Now there’s a scary combo.

Fortunately, there are a variety of skin care products out there to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and ease that tired under-eye area.

Most of the products take shape in the form of eye creams. One brand, in particular, offers numerous types of eye cream: Philosophy, a skin and beauty company.

But how can you be sure that a product will work before you invest in buying one?

And with so many options available, how are you to choose the best product for you?

That’s why we’re here to help.

Below, we’ve provided a comprehensive review of Philosophy’s various eye cream products so that you have all the information you need to make the right decision come purchase time. It is our goal to provide you with as honest and unbiased information as possible.

What is Philosophy Eye Cream?

So, what are Philosophy Eye Creams, and why are there so dang many of them?

Eye creams are products with the intention of lessening puffiness and smoothing wrinkles around the eyes, creating a more youthful and awake everyday look.

Where specific eye creams differ, then, is in their main focus and additions.

Some take a harder stab at smoothing over wrinkles, while others really focus on getting rid of any puffiness. Others focus on hydrations, while still more focus on brightening the skin around the eyes.

Philosophy Eye Cream Specifications

As previously mentioned, there is a great variety of eye creams offered by Philosophy alone. Below, we’ll take a quick look at some of their bests.

Ultimate Miracle Worker Fix

[amazon box=”B078MJQ5XY”]

  • Purpose: This is an eye-fix power treatment that focuses on “3-dimensional problems” around the eyes. The aim of this crème is to reduce wrinkles, creases, and hollowness surrounding the eyes for a more youthful appearance by plumping and firming the skin.
  • How to Use: Apply this cream twice a day around the eyes, morning and evening.

Uplifting Miracle Worker

[amazon box=”B01A5ONIA4″]

  • Purpose: The Uplifting Miracle Worker is a “lift and firm” eye cream. The goal of this eye cream is to create a younger-looking eye area by boosting the skin’s natural lifting abilities to increase elasticity and firmness. It does this through a combination of Persian silk tree extract and their specially-formulated Cool Lift™ technology. The result should be a brighter eye area with less-noticeable darkness and puffiness and firmer, lifted look.
  • How to Use: Apply this Philosophy Eye Cream by gently moving the cream around your eye areas, lightly patting until fully worked-in.

Time in a Bottle

[amazon box=”B00JN2NT86″]

  • Purpose: This product is technically an eye serum. It’s unique in that it works to undo the damage of the past while simultaneously protecting the skin in the present so that it stays healthy in the future. In this way, it follows a “resist, renew, repair” philosophy. It accomplishes this through a combination of peptides, caffeine, and grape and rise extracts.
  • How to Use:  Apply this serum twice a day in the morning and evening, avoid direct contact with eyes.

What Users Think

Customers who purchase any of the Philosophy Eye Creams seem to really like them. They enjoy the various creams’ textures and are pleased with their performance. They also like that the creams don’t sting.

When it comes to the Time in a Bottle eye serum, users are very pleased with the results but do recommend that you use a moisturizer in addition to it. Additionally, while the products mostly do a good job lightening dark circles, most products take a bit longer to reduce wrinkles, even the Anti-Wrinkle cream.

There really aren’t too many bad things to say about this collection of eye creams. The only real detractors are the hefty price tags. More on that below.

Farmacy Dew it All

[amazon box=”B07CV4Z9D9″]

Farmacy is a cosmetics brand that uses natural ingredients and nature-based products, including an eye cream. Unlike Philosophy, Farmacy only offers one eye cream product. While this means that the selection and specificity is gone, Farmacy does its best to create an all-in-one product.

Farmacy Dew it All fights against age, stress, and fatigue. It diminishes fine lines and wrinkles through its use of its Echinacea GreenEnvy™ mixture, along with antioxidants, rose hip, and algae.

Through use of hyaluronic acid, it moisturizes on both a surface level and deep within the skin for healthier, more elastic skin. Baobab fruit, Vitamin C, calendula, and chamomile work to heighten cell renewal to decrease redness and brighten skin, providing a healthy and youthful glow.

This product also works as a primer. It is guaranteed not to stick or sting.

The best part about this product, though, is the price. At $38 per .5 oz, this is cheaper than every product offered by Philosophy.

The reviews are mostly positive for this product. Customers love the way the smooth cream feels and find it refreshing. Some complain, however, that the cream is not actually that moisturizing, and others say it doesn’t do much for reducing dark circles and puffiness.

Could it be that this all-in-one product really can’t do it all?

Or perhaps it just doesn’t work for a small subset of skin types.

Regardless, this is the only eye cream Farmacy offers, so if this product doesn’t work for you, you’re out of luck with this brand.

[amazon box=”B07CNJPVXP”]

Drunk Elephant is a cosmetic company that vows to only use natural ingredients and no fragrances. While they don’t offer multiple eye creams like Philosophy, they do offer two differing products, so they have more variety than Farmacy.

The first product is the C-Tango™ Multivitamin Eye Cream. This eye cream uses a combination of peptides, Vitamin C, and cucumber extract to brighten the skin around the eyes and firm it up. The product also works to refresh and replenish the eye area, reducing the look of wrinkles and fine lines.

The other product Drunk Elephant offers is its Shaba Complex™ Eye Serum. Like the cream, this serum works to smooth the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

In addition to treating signs of age already there, it also prevents further damage from occurring. It accomplishes this with a formula made of black tea, copper peptides, antioxidants, and edelweiss stem cells. This serum also works to decrease the severity of age spots.

Users of these products seem to really like the eye serum, stating that it does wonders to get rid of darks circles and an okay job of decreasing puffiness. Reviews for the multivitamin eye cream are less positive. Many users complain of the cream piling up so that it can’t function as a primer after all, though it still has its supporters.

So, the Drunk Elephant products have mostly positive reviews, although not quite as uniformly as the Philosophy Eye Creams, especially in terms of the multivitamin eye cream. These products are much closer to the Philosophy Eye Creams in terms of price range than the Farmacy cream.

Pros and Cons

Now that we’ve seen how the Philosophy Eye Creams compare to the competition, here’s a quick recap of the brand’s major pros and cons before we draw our conclusions.

There are a lot of pros when it comes to this product line. First and foremost is the sheer magnitude of Philosophy’s selection. Though most of the products do a great job of freshening eyes up all around, their specialties can help you determine which will work the best for you.

The best part, though, is that these eye creams actually seem to work, customers offering up little complaint.

The only real con to the Philosophy Eye Creams are the prices. There are definitely cheaper creams available, though effectiveness may be questionable.

Pros

  • Massive Selection
  • Amazing Results

Cons

  • Expensive
